Although there is still plenty of summer to be had, many are looking forward to fall - if for nothing else, but the season’s fashion; amazing new styles, textures, and colours. These are 3 Ways to Transition from Summer to Fall Fashion, by Sattva’s Product Specialist, Natalie Ryan.
As we transition into cooler weather, dressing just right can be tricky! Below are three great style tips that you can use to slowly transition your summer wardrobe to fall, while allowing you to extend the life of your favourite summer garments!
Layer Summer Styles
Layer up your summer pieces to create new looks that will keep you warm in this slightly cooler weather.
Experiment with tunics and short dresses over skinny denim, or paired with tights - a great way to add a few more weeks to your favourite flowy dresses.
Wear fluffy cardigans over your light weight tanks and tees. These will keep you cozy in the fall breeze, and can be easily removed as needed.
Reach for blazers as a substitute for outerwear early in the season.
Scarves are another great layering piece that can add some warmth and flare to even the most basic outfit.
Invest in Good Boots
Boots are an autumn staple that can easily make all of your summer outfits warmer and more functional, while also extending the life of your favourite dresses, jeans, shorts, and jumpsuits!
Try a summer dress worn with a great ankle bootie and a leather jacket.
Your favourite denim shorts paired with over-the-knee boots and a chunky sweater for some transitional and fashionable “city looks”.
Booties like the “Chelsea” will take you effortlessly from the weekday routine to your weekend adventures, they pair with everything from long dresses to cropped trousers and to your favourite denim.
Boots are an ideal item to help stretch your summer wardrobe a little longer, so consider allocating some of your fall fashion budget to a great and versatile style or two that will work well with the existing styles in your wardrobe.
Inspiration from All Seasons
A good general rule of thumb is to try and include one-piece from each season in your transitional looks – like a summer dress with booties, easy slide sandals with skinny jeans, or a great lightweight knit with shorts! Keeping a bit of skin exposed will help to regulate your temperature in the sometimes-unpredictable weather, while keeping you feeling some of that summer playfulness
The turning of the leaves doesn’t mean you have to buy a whole new wardrobe! Look for pieces that you can combine with your existing favourites. Think darker hues, cozy textures and fabrics, and strong functional footwear.
